Energy Type: Biomass
Source:Sugar cane, wood, and wastes

How is this energy converted/transferred into usable energy?

Biomass is converted into energy by burning fuel then hot water produces steam, the steam changes to turbines; the turbine changed generators then creates electrical power.
How is this type of energy used today?

Biomass can be used for heat, a stove, a boiler, burned to get energy for a car, and burn garbage to make electricity.
Advantages:
  • Fuel is cheap
  • Less demand on fossil fuels
  • Use waste materials
Disadvantages:
  • Growing/collecting in quantities could be hard
  • Waste materials aren’t around all year
  • Burning biofuel makes greenhouse gases

Is this energy source renewable or non-renewable?

Biomass is a renewable energy source.
